The Packaging!

Catherine Projects

I got a special delivery today…early this morning the doorbell rang and Eva went running to the door.  It was Mr. Brown with something for me!  It was my travel documents from Stampin' Up for the Founder's Circle in September!

I squealed with delight when I opened the package.  How pretty is this?

Inside:

We will be flying in to Vegas, then will be transported to St. George, Utah for an all expense paid vay-cay-shon!  WooHOO!

What I am looking forward to most is the time I will spend with some of the Stampin' Up staff and friends I have made with demonstrators all across the country and Canada over the past few years.    I can't wait to share the photos with you!

Crank out those Cards!

Catherine Projects

It's time for my first Christmas Card Crank…there will be one each month through Oct. on the 25th.  Registration for Monday's class closes tomorrow, so head on over to the events page to sign up!  You can even get this class to go.  I will send you all your pieces stamped, you just assemble!

I worked on the cards yesterday and had a bit of trouble getting into the spirit!  Here is a sneak peek.

I had no problem with the Chocolate and Red card using Deer Friends (ahem!  You can get that one for free when you host a workshop for me!  hint, hint…)  I LOVE that card!  Gingerbread Men, gingham ribbon, oh, yeah!

Then, I am just smitten with the ornament in the new Holiday Trinkets stamp set…and I always have to do at least one card in pink.  Love me some pink Christmas cards!

So, I stamped the ornament in craft ink and threw on some Irridescent Ice Embossing Powder and viola!  A sparkly pink ornament.  love, love…it also needed a bow.  So I used last year's silver cord.  shh!  It's not available right now..check Oct. 1 in the mini catalog.

Here is the first attempt:

My friend Erika said, “well…I'm not sure what that Rose Red strip is for.”  What's it for??!!  It's to look pretty!  Geez, what's with her?  Then she said, “it needs to be striped”.   All I had was some striped Pretty in Pink and that was just too pink for her.  I just couldn't win.

So here is attempt #2.

I liked this one a bit better, but didn't have Erika here to approve.  So here is attempt #3, and guess what!?  The 3rd one's a charm!  What do you think?  You can't tell, but the ornament is stamped on the delicious Shimmery White cardstock.

Creating Keepsakes & Big Shot

Catherine Projects

I was a vendor with a few of my friends this weekend at the Creating Keepsakes Convention and boy, was it a blast!  All kinds of crazy scrapper girls from all over North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and even West Virginia and Georgia!

We decided that we would have a make and take featuring the Watercolor Crayons (I know you've been thinking about them!  E-mail me and I'll place your order for these to die for babies!!) and the Big Shot die cut machine.  The gals colored (with the Always Artichoke, More Mustard and Ruby Red Watercolor Crayons) directly on the stamp  from Inspired by Nature, spritzed it with water, then stamped their image on So Saffron cardstock.  Then we ran it through the Big Shot using the exclusive to Stampin' Up Top Note die.  I LOVE this one!

Here is the finished scrapbook page featuring the make and take element.

And here is the facing page…now don't be distracted by the beautiful child!  Check out the artwork!  Awesome, huh!!??   LOL

Check back in the next couple days for the promotion I will be running for you to preorder your very own Big Shot die cut machine with exclusive Stampin' Up dies!!!

Click here to download the brochure.

I came home with goodies!

Catherine Projects

Did I show you all these goodies yet?  This is all the stuff I came home from Convention with.  New stamp sets, there were 12 of them..yup…12…holy schnikes!  And fun make and takes.

I hope you will join me soon to help me stamp with all of these fun, new stamps!

Here is an adorable Christmas card using the new Flower For All Seasons.  It also has a super cute flower pot with a lady bug and sunflowers and another with a cutie little frog on it.  Oh, my!  TOO CUTE!

I watercolored this one and used Garden Green and the new Riding Hood Red.  How couldya not love that name???

Big Shot is here

Catherine Projects

I am positively beat from the weekend!  I had an Open House with my downline on Saturday and Sunday and there were about 150 stampers total in attendance.  It was super fun, but whew!  I'm tired!  Unfortunately, my camera was left at home…but I do have some fun stuff to share!

Friday afternoon, Mr. Brown arrived with this:

The brand new Big Shot die cut machine!  Oh, my!  First I was scared of it.  What in the world do you do with all these things?

I quickly found that it is VERY easy to use and Amy, Janet and I whipped up some great projects with it.

Yes, crafting is messy…a wonderful mess though, don'tchathink?

This is my favorite die.  The Top Note.  This is exclusive to SU and you won't find it anywhere else!

This is the Top Note die cut and folded in half for a topper.  Cute, yup!  I know!  Then I embellished it with some of the flowers from Build a Flower die.

Another card using Build a Flower.  I also used the new colors, Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Bella Rose DSP and the Heard from the Heart stamp set.

One last sample using the Birds and Blooms Sizzlet.

What is my favorite thing about the Big Shot?  You can cut through 50 different materials!  Including CHIPBOARD!  Do I hear a woooHOOOO!!!???  So now you can make your own chipboard elements, then die cut the DSP or cardstock the same exact shape, glue it on and it's perfect!

If you are not getting my newsletter, go ahead and sign up for it in the box on the home page.

Thanks for checking in!

WoooHooo Catalogs

Catherine Projects

20 cases of catalogs arrived on my front door step!  WooHOOOOO!  Thank you, Mr. Brown!  I really only need about 10 cases right now, but I will be at the Creating Keepsakes Convention next weekend.  If you're in or near Charlotte, come see me!

My favorite things from this new wonderful catalog?  The new ribbons…can't wait to get my hands on those!  the new clips and filigree brads and the Simply Scrappin' kits.  I have liked the ones in the past, but I have to admit I haven't loved them.  I think there are a few here that I could LOVE.

If you're not in one of my clubs or an upcoming hostess, purchase the catalog for $10 and get a $10 coupon for your first order!  E-mail me and I”ll get it right out to you.

Happy Convention

Catherine Projects

Happy, happy from Convention!  I have a few ties for what I'm most happy about…

SU will carry the Big Shot Die Cut machine by Sizzex very soon…mine should arrive later this week!

Shelli Gardner, co-founder and CEO is starting her own blog, www.soshelli.com.  Be sure to check it out and visit her challenge page.  I can't wait to see some of the winning entries.  Customers and Demos can enter!

In the next catalog, ALL stamp sets will be die cut!

I came home with 12 brand new stamp sets.

SU is has a new Spanish Language catalog.

Ok…I'm saving the best news for last…

One of my downline and very close friend, Kim Allen got a Founder's Circle bag and is Demonstrator of the Year #94!   She has worked so hard to build a great business with a loyal customer base and a terrific downline.  This was such excting and amazing news, I could hardly contain myself!  Congrats to her!

For several months leading up to Convention, I begged my husband to join me in Salt Lake City because it was my outgoing Advisory Board year and I wanted him to be there with me.  I was thrilled when we began making plans for him to join me.

Then for my big surprise, I was even more thrilled that he was with me when I was named the #5 Demonstrator for Sr. Associate promotions and the #7 top Demo for Sr. Supervisor promotions in my first level downline.

Then, I was astounded to be named the overall #4 Top Demo of the year.  Wow!  Thanks to my downline, my customers and my family for supporting me and cheering me on as I grow my business and have a blast while doing it!  It wasn't exactly sure where I would place this year and when they named #11 and it wasn't me, I just put my head down on his shoulder and said, “oh, my goodness…I'm in the Top 10”  What a dream come true.

Randall said my hands were so clammy and sweaty and I could feel my heart beating so hard as they called #10, #9, #8 …all the way to #5.  Then next name was mine.  We were both so thrilled!

I teased my husband tonight that Stampin' Up is my rich boyfriend!  I came home with a necklace AND bracelet from Tiffany, a crystal paperweight from Tiffany for my AB year, a dozen roses, a diamond necklace and a gorgeous pink leather purse.  Holy cow am I getting spoiled!

And it doesn't end there…my boyfriend..uhem!  I mean Stampin' Up is taking me (and Kim!) on an all-expense paid trip to St. George, Utah from Sept. 17 – 22.  I can't wait!

Here I am with Kim right after she called me to tell me she got her bag.  I raced over to the Convention Center to tackle her in my excitement.  What joy!

What a night!

Soft Sky bye-bye

Catherine Projects

oooh…how much do I love, love Soft Sky!?  It is a perfect, light gorgeous blue.  And it's retiring.

I had an order for a Gift Certificate the other day and I made a really cute folder for it.

I basically just cut an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of cardstock 1/2″ wider than the GC.  Then scored a few inches in, then scored again the length of the GC plus a 1/2″.  Hope that makes sense.

Then, I cut a piece of Soft Sky Designer Series paper (retiring), mounted it on Blue Bayou cardstock (retiring), set a jumbo eyelet (NOT retiring) and tied Soft Sky Double Stitched Ribbon (retiring) around it all.

Here is the inside:

If you would like to give one of these as a gift, let me know!  They are available in any denomination.

Happy stamping!

Bud Basics

Catherine Projects

Remember I need to give some love to the retiring stamps!?  Well, here's a little love for Bud Basics.  I got this for free a couple years ago on the Stampin' Up cruise…oooh, I love me some free stamps!

This is Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery…don't they make a fabulous color combo?

On the background, I wheeled the Basics Outline in Chocolate Chip.  The thing I love the most about this set and wheel is that you can wheel Basics Outline in black or brown, then use the stamps from the set to stamp the inside of the flower in a fun color!
This set will no longer be available on August 10 and the wheel is available while supplies last.  E-mail me to order!

Retiring Accessories that are SOLD OUT:

  • Brushed Copper CS
  • River Rock and Wild Wasabi ink refills
  • Antique Brass and Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware
  • Double Stitched Ribbon in Blue Bayou, Groovey Guava and Purely Pomegranate
  • Simply Scrappin' Special Delivery Girl
  • Three for You punch box
  • Simply Sent: Simple Delights, Three Thoughts
  • A La Carte Jumbo Wheel

Be Happy

Catherine Projects

I need to give some lovin' to some of my favorites that are on the retiring list right now, so here's one for Be Happy. When this set came out, I immediately fell in love!  These are some fun stamps to play with!    This was our club make and take this week.  Soft Sky flowers in the background…the tag stamp was stamped on Purely Pomegranate textured cardstock with PP ink.  Smile was inked in Wild Wasabi, stamped off once, then Rock n Rolled in the WW ink pad for a fun shadow around the stamp. PP, SS, WW are all In Colors that are only available for a few more weeks.  E-mail me if you need to getchu some! img_4989.JPG

Snap, water and wooohooo!

Catherine Projects

We've had quite the interesting week here.  Progress on the stamp room furniture has been delayed.  I went to take a photo of the problem and hubby wouldn't let me….maybe it's like taking a pic of a train wreck.

All the pieces were cut and routed and we were piecing it together and SNAP!  One of the boards snapped in half.

The next day we went into the garage and there was water spurting out from our hot water heater.  2 more pieces…ruined!  Ugh!

So my husband is doing a triathlon this weekend then back to work on the shelving.  I'm trying my best to wait patiently!

What else have we been up to?  Well, yesterday we sent a little girl to kindergarten.  Can you tell which one?  Boy, we had a hard time getting her on the bus..hehe!

She was so excited and had a great time!  I can't wait to scrap this page.
