Using Main Image Stamps as Geometric Prints

Catherine CP Designs, CPD Ink, Encouragement, Videos

Last month I was playing around with some of my stamps, giving them a look with a different eye.  I pulled out some of my patterned stamps and used them in different ways.  You may remember THIS FALL THEMED CARD (<click there) with a geometric border using patterned leaf stamps.

Well, I also pulled out the Candy Cane Lane Stamp Set and used the patterned candy canes to create this fun accent piece for this card.  View the video to see how it was done!

First, I stamped various candy canes in a line on my white cardstock then cut them into narrow strips.  I adhered these to a larger square layer with alternate patterns and colors – Tutti Frutti, Tiara, Aquatini and Flirty Fuchsia.

The flower stamped in Midnight with a bit of Glass Slipper Glitter sprinkled on is a fun accent to the colorful, patterned background.  Tie some black and white twine around it, add a sentiment and you are done!

The Aquatini cardstock was easy to do, just run your ink pad (with a gentle touch!  it's foam, so you want to be careful so it doesn't tear) down your cardstock to create perfectly matching cardstock to your inks.

Leave a comment and let me know what stamps in your stash you'll use in a different way!

Here is a traditional card using the Candy Cane Lane stamp set as well.  Totally cute, right?  🙂
