Plaid Tree Holiday Tree with Julie

Catherine Projects

Hello! It's Julie, so happy to be sharing on Catherine's blog today.  I have a fun card that is super easy and quick to make and has a slight vintage Christmas feel to it, thanks to the colors in the Spa Ink Collection. I love how these inks have a muted, rich look to them. And, like all of Catherine's inks, they stamp like a dream!

juliemogford_withloveatchristmas1_CPblogI started with a 4 x 5.25 panel of cream cardstock.  Using the Green Tea ink, I used an inking tool to gently color the edges of the panel, and then went back with Eucalyptus ink to darken the outer edges.

Using the same two green inks, I used the direct to paper method to color some white cardstock.  I then used the Eucalyptus ink to stamp the Plaid Background stamp, and then inked over the top in Green Tea.

Using the Here We Come A-Caroling Dies (from the last Stamp of Approval Collection), I die cut the tree image from the Green Tea, the Eucalyptus and the plaid areas of the cardstock. The two solid trees were glued directly to the panel leaving space for the plaid tree to overlap the first two slightly.

Before adding the plaid tree with foam squares, I stamped the star from Medallion Mix-Up to stamp three stars in Peppermint Scrub ink. The sentiment “with love at Christmas” from Candy Cane Lane was also stamped with Peppermint Scrub ink.  Finally, I adhered the panel to a kraft cardstock 4.25 x 5.5 in. card base.

juliemogford_withloveatchristmas2_CPblogHow fun is that plaid tree? So cute!!! And I'm always a fan of a quick card! If you haven't gotten your hands on these fabulous inks, you simply must add them to your collection!

Happy Crafting, Julie
