KISS Card: Papillion Potpourri Vellum Butterfly

Papillion Potpourri Vellum Butterfly KISS Card

KISS Card: Papillion Potpourri Vellum Butterfly

What is a KISS Card?  KISS means Keep It Simple Stamper!

It’s a similar idea to Clean and Simple and I’ve made quite a few KISS Card videos and you all seem to enjoy them, so here’s another one for you!

Papillion Potpourri Vellum Butterfly KISS Card

When I make KISS Cards (or Clean and Simple), I like to keep a simple design, but have something on the card that POPS!  The Adorning Accents and Embossing here along with the glittery butterfly I think achieve this on today’s card.

Hope you are inspired!

Painted Magnolias for the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger!

moxie fab painted magnolias 3

It’s been a cool spring here in Raleigh, NC and I started thinking that perhaps we were going to pretty much skip spring and head right into summer (which we sometimes do!).  I think that is exactly what has happened.  It was 87 degrees here yesterday, but I’m still telling myself SPRING!

When I took a peek at the Moxie Fab World blog today I saw their Tuesday Trigger Challenge and it was like a bolt of lightening…I got super excited and started running around the house gathering supplies…well, watch the video…I talk all about it.  (Viewing by email?  click the title to visit my blog)

Here is the Tuesday Trigger…are you inspired?

Masking Technique with the Papillion Potpourri Stamp Set

Masking Technique Rubber Stamping , Papillion Potpourri Stampin' Up

After a couple days of KISS Cards (Keep It Simple Stamper) using the Masking Technique for rubber stamping, let’s look at a step up card!

Just like the card yesterday, I used one of the label shapes from the Apothecary Accents Framelits to make this card.  Once I cut out the shape, I used the negative and stamped the chevron from Stampin’ Up’s Oh, Hello Stamp Set.

I decided to dress this card up by adding the banner, butterfly and the chevons (made from the ric rac die cut on the Tasteful Trim Die- I love that die!).

Have you done any masking with die cuts yet?

Check out my other cards using the Masking Technique HERE and HERE.

I hope you have a wonderful Monday!  Mine started out with my 10 year old refusing to take the treat I made for her teacher to school…sigh…it’s Teacher Appreciation Week and in true “CP style”, I remembered last night at 9 pm.  Thankfully I have a stash of candy and great supplies to work with to whip something up.

I used the Fancy Favor Die to make a box out of Designer Series Paper, then I stamped the teacup from the Patterned Occasions Stamp Set, punched it and added it to the front of the box.  I filled it with yummy Ghiradeli Chocolates and it was good to go in under 10 minutes!  (you can see it on my Facebook page)

Evidently she brought a treat to her teacher 9 days ago (Valentine’s Day) using the SAME STAMP!  Egads!  She couldn’t give her teacher TWO treats with the same stamp on it!

Instead, her teacher gets nothing.  sigh….I guess it’s like wearing the same dress to two proms.  In her eyes, anyways…poor Mrs. Mayer.

KISS Card using the Masking Technique

KISS Card using the Masking Technique

Today’s KISS Card is featuring the Masking Technique!  I saw this done in Stampin’ Up’s Demonstrator Magazine this month and it re-sparked my interest in it and I thought you might like it, too!

I have used the Masking Technique for years, in fact, Simply WOW! has several videos on how to use this technique in different ways.

KISS Card using the Masking Technique

It’s perfect for KISS Cards  (Keep It Simple Stamper!), don’t you think?  I have to laugh at the result of these cards and this video.  I made the first card here a few days ago and it turned out differently than I had in mind because I made some boo-boos that had to be covered up (how often does that happen to YOU!?).  I talked about that in the video, then BAM!  It happened on the card that I was making.

Watch the video and you’ll see what I mean and you’ll learn how to do the Masking Technique.

There may be a slightly weird camera angle for this video.  Just as I was about to film, the power, internet and phone went out.  I thought it was the apocalypse (perhaps I’ve been watching too much Walking Dead) and figured I better hurry up and film while I could (although if it were the apocalypse no one would ever SEE this video!) so I moved my stamping station next to the window and there wasn’t much room for my camera.

Enough chit chat…

The “Not-so KISS Card” video will be on StampNation today or tomorrow and it will be the 290th video!!!  Wow…the 300th video is right around the corner.  That is EXCITING!

KISS Card using the Masking Technique

So I messed up when I stamped the greeting here, so I had to stamp it again, cut that out and add it to the card.  Then, I decided to add a bit of pop to the card with the Daffodil Delight Scallop Border Punch piece.  When I adhered that to the card, it was too low so I had to move it.  Yep, when I did that I tore the card.  So I needed something else.

In come banners.  The little banners ended up being such a fun, cute addition to the card.

KISS Card using the Masking Technique

I love the results, but tell me…does this still qualify as a KISS Card?

Tomorrow I will showcase another card that I made using the Masking Technique.
