Q: What is the masking technique and how do I get the best results with it?
A: Masking means to cover up one area when stamping another. It is used when you want one image to appear behind another. Or you might use it to stamp inside a die cut, or to only stamp part of your card.
It can be used many different ways to achieve some really fun looking hand made cards!
Tips:
- Use thin paper for seamless stamping. If you use thicker paper or cardstock, you will get a funky white edge around your stamping. A think piece of paper allows the stamp the most contact with your paper, resulting in a perfectly stamped masked image!
- Use a post-it note, or 2 Way Glue so your mask will stay in place (apply your 2 Way Glue, allow it to dry and BAM! It’s a temporary adhesive turning your scrap paper into a post-it note of sorts!).
- Save your masks to use again!
Stay tuned, tomorrow I will have another card in my KISS Cards Series (Keep It Simple Stamper) using the masking technique!
I just filmed the KISS Card video and I’ll tell ya it’s a ride! The first card ended up being a Not-so-KISS Card and that one will come to StampNation tomorrow.
The second KISS Card Video had a bump in the road…or two…which resulted in a part two…this card turned out different than I had planned and is a questionable KISS Card. Check back tomorrow- you’ll see what I mean and you can let me know if YOU think it is a KISS Card!

Have a great day, thanks for checking in and Happy Masking!
