Clean and Simple: Stampin’ Up Hearts a Flutter Rainbow Banner Card

Stampin' Up Hearts a Flutter Rainbow Banner Card

What kinds of cards are you busy making right now?  I have heard a lot of my paper crafting friends have been working on Valentine’s projects lately.

I have a great idea for a treat bag for my kiddos…I got so excited about it that I actually went out and got some Valentine’s candy for my kiddos!  We never give them Valentine’s goodies.  Is that lame?  I’ve started the project, maybe I’ll finish it today…maybe tomorrow.

TODAY let’s talk about this fun rainbow banners birthday card!

Stampin' Up Hearts a Flutter Rainbow Banner Card

I was actually in the middle of filming a video for StampNation when the phone rang…while I was chit chatting, I started playing with my Hearts a Flutter Framelits.  Ink pads, colors and paper started to fly and suddenly I had a rainbow of banners in front of me.

Multi-tasking is King  QUEEN!  Right?

  • Card base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2.
  • Basic Black cardstock: 4 x 5-1/4.
  • White layer: 3-3/4 x 5.

My favorite part of this card is the stamping that I did on the Designer Paper…look closely at the Old Olive DSP…looks pretty darned cool that way, doesn’t it?

Several of my upcoming videos for StampNation is a card using this same technique. Once you try it, you’ll be looking at your DSP in a different way, anxious to try this wherever you can!  The results are unique, custom designs created by YOU!

Snowflake Soiree Christmas Card Making: Clear Emboss Resist Technique

I had so much fun stamping yesterday, that I couldn’t wait to get out of bed today to stamp some more!  Has that ever happened to you?  It reminds me that I am very blessed to be able to do what I love for a job.  Awesome!

I was even more excited when I saw the challenges at Playdate Cafe and CASE Study today, because they really got my motor running!  The challenges were a card inspiration and color (black, white and plum…Wisteria Wonder…not sure if it’s really plum, but I went for it!)

The inspiration photo at CASE Study had Clear Emboss Resist going on and I wanted to do that, too.  I immediately reached for these awesome snowflakes.

First, I stamped the snowflakes from the simply gorgeous Snowflake Soiree Stamp Set in Versamark ink, poured on my Clear Embossing Powder and heated it with my heat tool.

Next, I used a Sponge Dauber to sponge some Wisteria Wonder over the snowflakes.  Now this can be a bit tricky…my first try went in the garbage.  Start in the center, dabbing and rubbing…then, gradually move out from the center.  As you do so, let up on your pressure so by the time you get to the outside of the snowflake, your color is very light.

 Stampin’ Up Supplies:

  • Snowflake Soiree Stamp Set (WM: 127922, CM: 127925)
  • Cardstock:  Basic Black, Whisper White, Wisteria Wonder
  • Ink: Wisteria Wonder, Versamark
  • Accessories:  Black Embossing Powder, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Took, Antique Brads, Tasteful Trim Die, White Taffeta Ribbon, Delicate Doily Embosslit. Rhinestones

Inspired by Nature Stamp Set – Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger

Today’s bright and fun card came about when I was inspired by the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger, Watercolor Butterflies!   You can find that challenge HERE.

I was inspired by the colors…I didn’t watercolor, but instead sponged on color gradually changing from one color to the next.  If you try this, be sure to put colors next to eachother that "go together".  For instance, I put Pumpkin Pie between Daffodil Delight and Regal Rose (yellow and pink or red mixed together make orange, so the gradual shading of these colors worked!).

I added a butterfly to my crochet trim for a fun touch of whimsy, while tying in the butterflies from the Trigger.

Heat Embossing the Inspired by Nature image first made the image resist my sponging and created a beautiful background.  View the video to see how this card was made (if viewing in a feed, click the title of the post to visit my blog):
