Thanksgiving or Christmas Place Card Holder

It’s a good thing I showered today!  And not because of what you think…because in the middle of soaping my loofah (whoops, is this TMI?), a lightening bolt came straight out of the clear blue and I was like “SQUIRREL!”.  I was EXACTLY like this:

So I hurried and RAN to my stamp room (I dried off first…and got dressed, so you can start breathing again) and I got straight to work.

See me in action (if you are viewing this in a feed through e-mail, click the title to visit my blog)…this is a GREAT idea to get the kids involved.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project and video.  Wish me luck on turkey day while I sweep up the mess!

Valentine Suckers to Make Using the PS I Love You Stamp Set

Are you planning to make Valentine’s with your kids, or do you buy them from the store?  We have always made them…paper crafting is my JOB after all, so how could we buy them?

Well this year I have a 6th grader (no valentines for her) and my 3rd grader informed me that her class isn’t doing them anymore, either.

That leaves me with the 1st grader.  My fingers were crossed.

She came home from school the other day, saw these 2 suckers on my desk and immediately got started on making 25 of them.

Not even joking.  She got busy right away and worked on them until they were done, stopping only to sleep and go to school!

The only thing I did for her was cut the 3 x 6 pieces of cardstock and thread and tie the ribbon.  She did everything else.

NOTE:  3 x 6 fits perfectly when cutting 12 x 12" cardstock with no waste, but a 3-1/4 x 6 gives you more room to line it up on the die…she had to work at it to get it lined up to cut right on the die.  There was barely enough room to make the cut.  She has a bit of perfectionism running through her blood, so I was worried it would send her over the edge, but she did great!

View the video to see how it was made:

If you don’t have the Scallop Squares Duo die, you can use other shapes, or simply cut your cardstock to 3 x 6 and fold in half.

Stampin’ Up Supplies:

  • PS I Love You Stamp Set
  • Cardstock:  Real Red, Whisper White, Melon Mambo
  • Ink:  Melon Mambo, Real Red, Chocolate Chip
  • Accessories:  Scallop Squares Duo, Elegant Lines Embossing Folder,  1-3/4" Circle Punch, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Dimensionals, Crop-a-dile, White Satin Ribbon
