You’re So Sweet with Ashlea

Catherine CP Designs, Gallery, Projects, Stamp of Approval

Hey all! It's Ashlea from the creative team here and I'm so excited to be on Catherine's blog today featuring one of my favorite cards that I created using supplies from the newest SOA – Celebrate Friends.

I received the Celebrate Friends with Coffee set because, well, I have a spiritual connection with coffee. That conversation is for another time. For now, let's focus on this Cup of Joe border die for a moment. MY. GOODNESS.

I have to admit, sometimes I get a little intimidated by border dies. I'm never quite sure where or how to use them and I always end up scratching the project and remaking it just because I don't feel as if I used the die correctly.

I did not have that problem with this border die. It has such a simple but intricate design and it draws so much attention without overtaking the entire card front. I used it here on the edge and decided to blend It's a Girl and Shea Butter in a pattern on the edge of the card so you could just see it peeking through the open spaces and the border. I've been using this color combo often throughout my projects with this collection. They remind me so much of cakes and sweets when used together.

I stamped the cake on a scrap paper so that I could die cut it and add some dimension to the card. I started by masking the actual cake part and stamping just the cake stand with versa mark ink and embossing it with some silver embossing powder to give a metallic look. I then masked the cake stand and used Icing On The Cake to stamp the cake. I used a pale pink marker to color in the drippy frosting to pull in from the It's A Girl ink on the edge of the card.

For my sentiment, I knew I wanted to use the “sweet” word die so I ink blended some It's A Girl Ink and cut the word die out of the inked up area. To complete the sentiment I used the WooHoo stamp set and embossed the word “you're” and “so” with white embossing powder onto some Midnight Card Stock. I adhered everything together and lastly, I added some Nuvo Crystal Drops in Dandelion Yellow.

I hope you've enjoyed learning about how I created this card using the Celebrate Friends with Coffee SOA. I always love seeing your creations and your take on all of the products. Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!
