Foiled Split Chevron with Justine

Hi Crafters, It’s Justine Hovey and I’m on the blog today with a fun, foiled card featuring the new Zen Garden Release!

CPZEN1 Have you been enjoying the EIGHT new inks as much as I have? Do you have a favourite colour? Let me know in the comments!

My favourite is Seafoam! I’ve been really having fun combining these Spa Collection inks with the other ones that were previously released. Sometimes though, I like to create something quick and easy, so I tried out foiling!

CPZEN2 I used Transfer Gel along with the Split Chevron Stencil. I spread the gel over top of my card through the stencil. To help me get the different variations of length, I used Post-It tape to mask off some area. Once the transfer gel dried, I sent it through my laminator with some foil. The trick to getting different colours is to cut small strips. I find with the parchment paper, nothing really slips and slides around.

For the Thanks sentiment, I used the Thanks Die, die cut it from Toner Sheets that are adhesive backed, ran it through the laminator with some pink foil and adhered it to my card.

I hope you enjoyed this quick and rather simple explanation!

CP here!  Justine seems to be a master foiler…if only I were!  Laurel and I were on LIVE with StampNation last week and I was playing with some foiling techniques.  I’ve used foil, successfully, in the past and I LOVE LOVE the look.  But it’s a bit overwhelming for me for some reason.  I’m not sure if it’s because I haven’t “mastered” the different ways to use it or if it’s too many steps for me (kinda sad…lol), but my dabble in foil last week didn’t turn out too well and resulted in almost starting a fire and my laminator being taken apart completely.  EEECK!

Laurel and I will be on LIVE tomorrow morning again, hopefully I’ll get it this time!

Gorgeous card Justine. Catherine, I have the products to foil, but for some reason I am intimidated by it. I love the look you get from foiling. Maybe, I’ll get up the nerve and give it a try.
