Blog Hop Day 3: Chalkboard Holiday Cards and Watercolored Wreath

Winterhaven_BlogHop Here we are…the final day of blog hops!  Thank you for hanging out with us all week during our release festivities!  It’s always so much fun, right?

TONIGHT is our PJ Release Party at StampNation!  We always have so much fun during these Live Streams.  We’ll chat, answer questions, have some trivia questions for you guys, stamp and open ordering early.  If you’re not a member yet, now is a perfect time to join (especially since we are still celebrating World Card Making Day over there!).  Click here to learn more.

If you are new to Stamp of Approval Collections—

The video here says it best...but in a nut shell, we design a collection of products that come in one fabulous box and provide a free Project Guide download with step-by-step instructions for dozens of hand made cards using the collection!

Our very first collection premiered August 6, 2015 and was such a hit that we sold out in 1 hour and 1 minute.  Then we oversold, flipped out (just a bit…lol), scrambled, figured it out and we were all happy in the end. We’ve grown a lot and we’ve learned a lot and it’s been an amazing ride!

Each quarter, people from around the globe tell me what a difference Stamp of Approval makes for them.  To some it might just be a box of stamps.  But to others, it’s a creative outlet.  It’s a way to gather with friends and bond.  It’s the perfect way to send messages of love to friends and family.

To this community, it also bring us together.  SOA fans are like kids on Christmas morning (me included!!!) and as an adult, it’s not often that we get to feel like that!  And how much fun is it to share in that TOGETHER?

Just look at these happy ladies!!!

Stamp of Approval Thank you ladies, for sharing in this amazing paper crafting ride with me…you all make it SO MUCH FUN!

SOA Winterhaven Watercolor Wreath 2

When a wreath isn’t a wreath…and faux metal accents in this Holiday Card Making video tutorial!

The Joy and the strip were dipped in Versamark ink, covered in Metallic Sparkle Embossing Powder and heat set.  I did this twice to get good coverage.  You can also do it with Gold or Silver without the sparkle.  When I do that, I usually do 3 or 4 layers of embossing powder to get a shiny, gorgeous Faux Metal accent piece.

The wreath from the Joy Wreath die was die cut in watercolor cardstock, then colored with Lime Rickey, Rockin’ Red and Grass Skirt.  I cut the wreath in a few places and added it to the card base as a swag.

The Ornamental Background Stamp was stamped in Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I love the elegant look and feel of these elements!

SOA Winterhaven Watercolor Wreath How about a black and white Chalkboard look?  I was perusing the interwebs and I came across a printed card very much like this…so I CASED it! Why not?  Right?

I stamped the pine boughs from the Tis the Season stamp set in Versamark ink, then poured on white embossing powder and heat set.

I die cut the Joy from White Cardstock and added it to the card.  I used direct to paper to run my Rockin’ Red ink pad on white cardstock and die cut the red cardstock with the circle dies from the Tis the Season dies (add-on item for this collection).  I adhered them to the card and lickety split!  I was done!

I’ve never been a huge wreath person. I think I’ve made one wreath card – EVER. But – you have rocked my world with this wreath die! I’m totally loving it and I officially proclaim that it’s what I’m most anxious to create with when I get the collection! Love how this wreath card came together and how elegant it looks, I like the chalkboard card as well, but I have totally loved every card created with this die! Thanks not just for your creativity but the vision and work you and your team put in to create these collections! They are brilliant in concept and I have totally enjoyed everyone I’ve gotten! You’re the best!

  • Joanne Hinsperger-Scott October 10, 2017, 9:10 pm

Okay, I stumbled upon the video. I thought the email I received would be a direct link to the video. I really liked the wreath as the decorative border trim. And I am kicking myself because I use to own two of those water brushes but I gave them away because I never use to use them. Augh! Oh well… live and learn, I suppose I can do the same with artists paint brushes. I will have to check out your sparkly embossing medium. I like sparkles but the ones I tried in the past the glitter would fall off.

  • foleysfriend October 10, 2017, 9:23 pm

Loving the chalkboard card; not an expected Christmas technique; really lovely though.

  • Mel Hughes October 10, 2017, 10:00 pm
