Cards with Sass and Rainbows! Watercolor and Emboss Resist Technique

Cards with Sass Masterclass Our Summer Masterclass Series at StampNation has been a huge hit!  We’ve had Creative Mediums for Cardmaking with Design Memory Craft where we learned techniques using mediums like Gelatos and Whipped Spackle.  Unexpected Layering with Concord & 9th was a great class that inspired us to layer with dies, stencils and stamping!  And our third class, Cards With Sass brought to us by CAS-ual Fridays has inspired us to add sass to our cards in many different ways.

Michelle Lupton was the first instructor in this Masterclass.  She made three different cards with painted rainbows!  EEEECK!  Talk about INSPIRATION!

Her three cards showed different ways to finish off the technique pieces she created and how to add other techniques to the cards as well.

I LOVE how she painted her rainbows, so I got my own rainbow palette out and went to work.  I created a rainbow in a different way and had a lot of fun along the way.

Cards With Sass and Rainbows 2

In this video, I’ll show how to do the Emboss Resist Technique with watercolors and I’ll share the history behind the stamps and dies used in this card!
This card layout is a very simple one, but you can do many things with a technique piece like this.  Try die cutting with a scallop rectangle, or a circle and adding that to your card front rather than the large panel shown here.  Get creative and have fun!

Cards With Sass and Rainbows Now go try your own rainbow and let me know your results in the comment section below.  Also, please share your creations with us over at StampNation, on Facebook or Instagram.  We love seeing what you are working on!

    Hey Catherine,

You mentioned that there was a tutorial on StampNation that taught how to make multiple cards at once (i.e. 15). Where do I go in StampNation to find that tutorial? I’ve been looking but I cannot seem to find it. Please help ;)
Btw, I’m going to try this technique out this afternoon! Thanks for all your inspiration! Love!

Very nice and colorful card. Liked the watercolor technique. I really have to try this more often.
