Partial Stenciling with Maureen Merritt

Hi all, it’s Maureen here.  Today’s card uses partial faded stenciling with the new Swoop Stencil.

There are so many ways to use stencils…create a full background, mask areas and stencil or use just a portion of the stencil like I’ve done here.

To make my card I started by placing the Swoop stencil on and angle over a white card base.  I covered the top part of the card base with scrap paper so I wouldn’t get ink on it, then I sponged very lightly with Mint To Be ink, gradually pressing harder and adding more ink as I got to the bottom of the card.  The very bottom left corner was sponged with Aquatini ink.  This is a fun, easy way to add color and interest to the background of your card!

From here I added my greeting using the Congrats die and You did it stamp set.  I could have left my card super simple and finished it at that point but I wanted just a little bit more.  I stamped the bottom edge with the YAY Stripes! stamp set and embellished the design with stars from Little Bits and a strip of glitter card stock.

This is a great card to have in your stash.  The layout is super simple for mass producing…change out the sentiments and colors and quickly replenish your card supply!

I hope you’ll give Partial Faded stenciling a try.

Thanks for having me today Catherine.

Fabulous card Mo! I’m over the moon in love with this stencil and have used it with several different mediums. I always like a touch of black and white to make the card pop a bit. Thanks for sharing. ~HUGS~
