Golden Pineapple with Melissa Miller

BLOG-FB_2_FreshlyPicked Hi everyone! I’m Melissa from Catherine’s design team and I’m honored to be guest posting for her today. I wanted to share a card I created using some products from the recent Freshly Picked release.

Did you know the pineapple is the symbol of friendship and hospitality? Given that fact, it seemed the perfect image to use for this fun thank you card.

pineapplethanks I started my card by creating the colorful background using the Swoop stencil. I did some ink blending through the stencil using Catherine’s Lime Rickey and Tiara inks. When I had the look I wanted, I trimmed the panel down to 3-7/8 x 5-1/8″.

Since the colors were pretty vibrant, I added a vellum layer to tone down the intensity of the background, so it didn’t overpower the focal image. I cut a piece of vellum to 3-3/8 x 4-5/8″ then went around the edges with a VersaMark ink pad. I dipped the edges in some gold embossing powder then set everything using my heat tool.

pineapplethanks2 I started by die cutting the pineapple from a piece of white card stock using the I Pick You dies. I stamped the pineapple fronds image from the coordinating I Pick You stamp set at the top of the die cut using VersaMark ink then heat embossed it using more of the gold embossing powder.

Next, I inked up the body of the pineapple using Tiara ink then added a bit of Lime Rickey around the edges using the rock ‘n roll inking technique. I stamped off once before stamping onto the die cut to soften the ink colors a bit. Finally, I stamped the sentiment from I Pick You onto the body of the pineapple using Icing on the Cake ink.

To assemble the card, I created a top-folding card base from white card stock. I adhered the stenciled background layer using tape runner. To adhere the vellum layer, I ran it through my Xyron machine and turned it into a sticker so I wouldn’t have to worry about any adhesive showing then adhered it over the stenciled layer. To complete the card, I adhered the pineapple focal image using dimensional adhesive.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this really fun thank you card. Please be sure to post your creations using the Freshly Picked release and share them with us across social media! If you would like to see more of my designs, you can find me at melscardcorner.com. Thanks!
