So Sweet with Maureen Merritt

BLOG-FB_FreshlyPicked Hi there, it’s Maureen here sharing a card that I made using the newly release Freshly Picked release.

CPpost This is such a fun card for Summer.  The images and colors are so happy, like a big bowl of fruit salad. They’d be perfect for BBQ invites and Summer birthdays too.

I started by stamping the pears in Melon Ice ink.  When I stamp backgrounds like this, I always start with the lightest color and the largest stamp, then move gradually to the darker colors and smaller images.

I also stamp in triangles (the images make a visual triangle).  Next I filled in with the other images… oranges in Orange Twist, apples in Lime Rickey and more apples in Rockin’ Red.

Another tip for creating backgrounds, as the background gets filled I stamp the smaller images a few extra times, like the strawberries.

To give the card a home grown feel, I added the stitched border image from the Best in You stamp set on all four side to create a stitched frame.  The sentiment was heat embossed and then added with foam tape.

I hope you enjoyed my card today!  Thanks for having me Catherine.

    Maureen,

I just love this card. It is so fresh. I may have to case it. Thanks for sharing your techniques as I am not as good at getting a background like that to be balanced. I am going to try this method.
