Hi everyone, I hope you’re having a wonderful day! I’m Taheerah and I’m hijacking Catherine’s blog today! It’s okay, she knows I’m doing it, so I’m not hacking, hee hee!
I’m here to bring you another card created with the goodies from the *awesome* Spring Fling release! I’m sure you’ve all got your new inks and stamps and dies already, right? If not, hopefully this card will help sweeten the deal for you!
How fun is this?! As I was looking at the Dotted Circle Dies it struck me how they kinda looked like piped icing on a birthday cake, if you look at one from above! So that’s how this idea was born!
I used one of the Circle Dies to cut out a ‘cake board’ base and embossed it with silver embossing powder for an authentic look! Then I die cut one of the Dotted Circles for my cake itself!
I really enjoyed ‘decorating’ my cake with various stamps! The ‘Birthday’ is from Spot On Sentiments (part of the Foundations Box) and I inked it up with all of the fun new ink colours, a letter at a time!
This was a piece of cake (pun intended!) to do thanks to the MISTI and some masking! I even used one of the leaves from the Simply Stated set to add a ‘flame’ to my ‘I’ to turn it into a candle!
The flowers were from the brand new Simply Stated stamp set, stamped with Sweet Sixteen and It’s A Girl inks, with the leaves stamped in Melon Ice.
I added my dotted pink ‘icing’ by curving the dotted line stamp around one of my dies so it would create a perfect circle arc! Like those Sweet Sixteen swirls? I used some selective inking of the large stamp from the Fill-In-The-Blank Happy Birthday set to create those!
Once I was done decorating my cake, I adhered it to the ‘cake board’ using dimensional glue gel, and adhered that to a white card base. The base got a little decorating too, courtesy of impressing several of the Circle Dies into the base!
I hope you’ve really loved this card as much as I loved making it! Make sure you grab all those new CP inks to add to your collection, and some of the other new goodies as well!
Thanks for stopping by!
Love this sweet design . . . and do you know I have yet to use my newest inks. I was unfortunately on a crafting break, but did not take a break from buying new stamps and inks when that new color collection came out. I mean come on! I needed to be sure my collection was complete (kind of like Ariel, needing to be sure I have everything). I am going to break into those beautiful pastels TODAY!
