Candy Cane Lane SOA Collection Blog Hop Day 3: Two for One!

ccl_bloghop Today is our 3rd and final blog hop day!  TOMORROW the Candy Cane Lane Collection goes on sale to the wait list!

SOA release day is always like Christmas morning – I can’t WAIT!   Once ordering opens, the anticipation begins…I sit on pins and needles waiting to begin seeing photos of you all with your boxes.  It’s kinda like the Santa Tracker.  So we’ve got it backwards…Christmas Day, THEN Christmas Eve.  Hahaha!

With our last collection, the record from ordering to arriving on the doorstep was 17 hours.  I have no earthly idea how that is humanly possible, but it happened!

If you missed our previous days, here is a recap…the preview days will show you the first 6 products in the collection.  The first blog hop day shows you the final product.  And every day I share different projects made with just this collection of stamps and dies.

Your holiday card making this year is going to be EASY and it’s going to be FUN.

In this video, we’ll use one embossing background piece and die cut it with the large label and in one feel swoop we have a fabulous backdrop for a card and a cut out for a tag!  BAM!

Label Die Cut Holiday Card and Tag

I have a confession…this was an “interesting” video to make.  I actually made a completely different card with this gold embossed Peppermint Background at first.

I added a white panel over the gold background, topped it off with a greeting and a few peppermints. And it wasn’t doing it for me.

You know…I didn’t even plan to tell you this story, but since I did, I’ll share the card with you.  I sent it to Maureen and asked what was “wrong” with it…sorry about the quality of this photo…but whaddaya gonna do?   Here it is…

Remember the other day when I talked about how I don’t love every card I make, and when I do, I get really excited?

Well, there’s really nothing “wrong” with this card…but I wasn’t jumping up and down. There was something just “off” about it.

I pulled off the panel, die cut through the middle, added my sentiment and candy canes and I liked this so much better!

Leave me a comment and let me know what YOU would change about the card above?  I would love to know!

So you can see how I removed the white panel, cut through the embossed piece (which gave me a card AND a tag!  YAY!) and embellished the positive and the negative die cuts.

Candy Canes and holly and berries from the Candy Cane Lane Stamp Set and Dies and the Merry Label Dies accented the labels perfectly!

Which projects so far do you see yourself CASEing first?  Or will you create something entirely new with the products of this amazing collection?

WIN the Stamp of Approval Candy Cane Lane Collection:  THREE commenters will be chosen at random from all the comments on all the blogs (one each day). The more blogs you comment on, the better your chance in winning!

The Dream Team  members and our guests have projects ready for you using the supplies in the Stamp of Approval Candy Cane Lane Collection.

Tomorrow, Tomorrow!  I’ll see you tomorrow!!!  (well, if you are on the wait list!!!  :) )  YAY!

I really like the card and tag that you ended up with. I personally think that the other has too much white space.

  • JanetB September 21, 2016, 9:57 am

I’m really beginning to love that peppermint stick background! It is so versatile!

  • Helen Gullett September 21, 2016, 9:58 am

WOW… Catherine, the card and matching tag are gorgeous! Love them!

  • Christine Szekeres September 21, 2016, 10:04 am

It’s been a wonderful 3 days of inspiration for the Candy Cane Lane SOA box. Now to get that link…

  • Jenny September 21, 2016, 10:12 am

  • Kari VanNoy September 21, 2016, 11:26 am

I’ve loved all the inspiration this week! What an awesome collection!! Can’t wait!

  • Debbie Odle September 21, 2016, 12:04 pm

I wouldn’t change a thing about this card. It’s perfect! I would probably use this se first for making cards as I would do with the other ones. Also I would use them all in my scrapbooking and my junk journal’s! The creative ideas running through my head are endless! Gift tags, tree ornaments and so many more!

  • Dee Earnshaw September 21, 2016, 12:10 pm

Awesome – you are so inspiring:)

  • renee honeycutt September 21, 2016, 12:27 pm

do not have any SOA- this would be nice

  • Lee September 21, 2016, 12:36 pm

I like your revised card and tag better than the original card too. I may have added a stamped off, light, “Dear Santa …. ” to the top of the white space of the original to make it look like a letter in progress, but I really like your solution better. You ended up with two for one & both are awesome. Love the candy stripe background in gold too. Not sure I would have tried that, but now that I’ve seen it, I know I will CAS that idea. Thanks!

  • Cindi Hansen September 21, 2016, 1:39 pm

Big difference in the card with just a minor change!

  • Camille West September 21, 2016, 2:29 pm

I have LOVED this blog hop! As far as ‘the card you didn’t love’. I think I would have made the white card that is raised up from the gold strip a different color than white and used the die cut that gives you an offset to it. I think it would have made a big difference in how the card looked. Thank you so much for the opportunity to win this SOA box!

  • Katie Kinde September 21, 2016, 2:49 pm

    Love these!

  • Sue Smith September 21, 2016, 3:03 pm

These cards are spectacular Catherine. I especially am crazy about the background stamp and would to be able to win a SOA box. However, I do know how my luck goes, so I’m sending congrats to the very lucky winners who do win :)

  • chark September 21, 2016, 3:15 pm

love this gold striped background, so pretty!

I really love the card and tag set. I think this is my favorite so far:-) Great set thanks!

  • Judy R September 21, 2016, 5:46 pm

All these cards are so cute. I lost my brother before Christmas a few years ago and haven’t done Christmas cards since. After seeing some of these cards I think I need to get into the spirit again, my brother would love the non-traditional ones.

  • Amanda Sheldon September 21, 2016, 5:47 pm

Thanks for sharing your inspiration! Simple but effective cards!

  • Carissa Brownlee September 21, 2016, 6:38 pm

Checking out the blog hops, so many great ideas! thanks.

  • Julia Colli September 21, 2016, 6:47 pm

I love today’s card and tag. I so love that background stamp! I think the problem with your other card is that white square is too big and too white. Maybe replace it with a stamped background, possibly even the peppermint stick background in a different colour?

  • Kim S September 21, 2016, 6:50 pm

What an awesome blog hop! Loved all the inspirations.

  • Patty Beers September 21, 2016, 7:20 pm

This gets more exciting by the minute. Love these ideas.

  • Susan Powell September 21, 2016, 7:52 pm

I love that Merry die! Great idea to make a tag out of the panel!

  • Lynda September 21, 2016, 9:53 pm

Love the colors, papers, and designs of this box. Thank you for the chance to win!!!

  • Dolores Crabtree September 21, 2016, 10:44 pm

Love, love, love the simplicity of these cards, and I would dearly love to win the candy cane lane collection.

  • Jane Sirak September 21, 2016, 10:55 pm

This is a great kit… it would be awesome to win it .

  • Michele W September 22, 2016, 12:03 am

The more I see this background stamp in action the more I love it. Same with the tag dies. I particularly like the use of the negative of the larger die. Makes a really great frame. Thanks for sharing! I’m really looking forward to working with this kit! Thanks for the chance to win one!

  • Fern September 22, 2016, 12:34 am

I love the two for one cards and the gold peppermint is Beautiful

  • Cynthia Johnson September 22, 2016, 1:03 am

I love how you redid the second card. If I had to redo it I think I would use the tag die and make a shaker card with the candy canes outside in the corner.

  • Pamela Costello September 22, 2016, 6:15 am

The gold embossed striped background looks beautiful on your card, simple stand out cards – lovely work

  • Birgit Norton September 22, 2016, 6:30 am

I so enjoyed my very first blog hop with you! I’m saying a prayer that I’ll be one of the winners so I can experience the joy of an SOA box!

  • Judy September 22, 2016, 7:01 am

WOW what great cards in such a short time! Make a card in 5 minutes, incredible. You have such a fantastic kit. Hope to be able to get one! Thanks for such great videos.

  • Patt H. September 22, 2016, 9:50 am

I really like both cards! The gold stripes are perfect & I like the white space as it seems to make the red pop. My favorite is the 2nd because the the shaped middle layer seems to draw the eye more than the first card. They are both awesome!!

  • Sandra (Sandy) Fulton September 22, 2016, 12:52 pm

I would of use full panel. using all of your other embellishments. Your cards are great.. You are fun & educational too. I love

  • Geri Clark September 22, 2016, 1:57 pm

All the cards you made are very nice. Love how you can come up with so many new ideas.

  • Denise Ward September 22, 2016, 7:39 pm

I agree that the second card is MUCH better. The ratio of white to print is better balanced, I think. But on both, I love the die cut Merry and the candy! So pretty! The tag is practically perfect! ;)

  • Lynn (Bluebells) September 22, 2016, 11:31 pm

Ahhh more cuteness and inspiration…this SOA set just keeps on giving…

  • Margaret A. Cook September 23, 2016, 12:51 am

I’m, really loving the peppermint candy background stamp! I’m imagining it in silver with navy colours on the front, lime green with pink on the front or vice versa, and my favourite at the moment is teal, with red. Oh, you have so much to inspire us with!

  • Shirley Hutchins September 23, 2016, 3:21 pm

Love the 2 for one design.

  • Karen Haralson September 24, 2016, 6:43 pm

I have jus started crafting with stamps. I love the combinations with the die cuts. Love everything I have seen. I would love to win a kit, I am trying to collect what I need to really got going.
