Creating a Background with Distress Crayons

I’m pumped today to have my dear friend and StampNation Dream Team member Laurel Beard here with a special guest post.  Take it away Laurel.

Hi there! Laurel here and I am pleased as punch to be a guest blogger on THE Catherine Pooler’s blog!!!!!  I’ve got a fun card to share with you that was actually inspired by SPAM! Seriously, the annoying spam email you get??? One of them had a gorgeous floral photo on it and it inspired me to create this card, he he he!

-1 To create the background, I stamped the images from Eva’s Favorite Flowers with Versamark ink and then heat set it with white embossing powder.   I then took some Distress Crayons and rubbed them all over the panel and then blended them by using a wet wipe.

I took one of the small circles from the Ring in the Celebration stamp set and stamped it with white pigment ink. The sentiment was stamped in the same ink. I adhered it to a teal card panel and then glued one strip of white card stock in between the panels to act as a border!

And finally, (I swear I am almost done babbling) I adhered the whole thing to a Navy blue card base.

Easy peasy!!!! Thanks to Catherine for letting me hijack her blog today!!!! :)
You can see more of Laurel’s amazing designs on her blog Paper Crafts by Laurel.
And guess what???  Eva’s Favorite Flowers, which was in our very first SOA Collection is now available for sale at Winnie & Walter!   Those of you that missed it (since we sold out in one hour and one minute- WHAT!?) can now grab it and add it to your stamp collection.

I love this card. I don’t have the crayons but I’m sure I can improvise. Thanks so much for sharing.
