Yes…you read that right.  I caved and got some Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.  I’ve played with other watercolor markers and they are all fairly similar, but the Zig Clean Color looked different to me, I was intrigued and I wanted to try them out.

I purchased the set of 12 and it was pretty much love at first site.  For reals.

I love them so much, I’ve even placed a second order! yes.  I sure did.  I will have several videos over the next month or so (the next one coming on Monday!) showing you different ways to use them…here is the first!

I find that the type of paper you use is important and you don’t get the same result from similar papers.  Would you like to see a video on different markers and different types of paper?  And if I do that, should I do one type of maker with different papers in one video…then another video with another type of marker and the same papers?  Or should it all be one longer video?

Now that we dipped our toes into the Zig Clean Color Markers, what questions do you have?

Like I said in the video, I didn’t stop stamping once the card in the video was done…I had to take that die cut piece and make a card with it and it was SCREAMING at me to make another shaker card!

The Shaker part of this card is a wee bit crooked…but my kiddos won’t mind!

I’ve made a bunch of shaker cards lately…most of them are on StampNation!  Check these out:

Those are gorgeous! I have those pens, but haven’t played with them very much. I’ve seen some cool things done with them, though – these cards included.

Love the second card too Catherine! Such awesome, vibrant color!

  • Mary Laffin June 25, 2015, 7:06 pm

I’ve ordered my pens a while ago and am anxiously waiting. Love you cards and need that die!

I really love the heart one. I love those colors together.

  • Tristan June 25, 2015, 11:51 pm

Fabulous pair of cards. Love how the second I thought came together.

Love the cards! I really like how you used the negative to make a shaker card. You have really great ideas and give lots of inspiration to us.
    Thanks!!!

Awesome cards! Love them both! One day I hope to be able to try those pens! xxx

These brush pens look like a lot of fun. Their color is very vibrant, even when water is added. I would love to see a paper comparison and how different mediums react with it.

  • Denise Bryant June 27, 2015, 11:20 pm

Can’t wait to see more about these pens… I just got a set and need some ideas and tips!

  • Joyce Spear June 27, 2015, 11:45 pm

I wrote a detailed comment earlier, but I guess it didn’t go through. I’m starting to think technology hates me.

The gist of what I said is that I love your two cards in this post for several reasons, and that I would be very interested in a video showing different markers on different papers. I’d prefer one video, but if you decide to break it up, I’m still along for the ride. I’m most interested about the qualities of the various papers out there as I already have quite a selection of markers and need to figure out which to use with what.

Crossing my fingers my comment goes through this time, or you’ll never know I was here!

I’m trying to find the “MISTT” you used in your video. Where can I find it or is there another name it’s called?

  • Catherine June 29, 2015, 11:12 pm

Hello Joyce! I’m so glad you are here!
Thank you all for leaving your sweet comments.
The MISTI can be found at http://www.mysweetpetunia.com
    THANK YOU!

Catherine, I always enjoy your videos and marvel at how creative you are! My favorite parts of the videos are how you correct mistakes or pass along a comment from your kids!

  • Camille Anzelmo July 4, 2015, 4:55 pm

I had to try these zip pens. After watching your videos i did two cards and i like them both. Two of my stamping friends are coming over for a BBQ and i am going to show them this technique. I know they will love it. I love the zip markers!! Thank you
