Bister Powder Background with Creative Medium Video Tutorial

I’ve been having tons of fun with the Color Burst powders – making a mess and tons of fun projects with them!

My crafty friends have informed me that the Color Bursts are not the only kid on the block.  There’s also Brushos and Bister.

I Brake for Stamps sent me the Bister Powders, so the inky, messy fun continued today.

The powders worked pretty much exactly the way the Color Bursts work when reacting to water, but the containers are different and the colors are very different.

Bister Powders are earth toned, so the wood grain stencil was perfect for the background!

Using the exact same technique, I made two very different projects.

The pink wood grained one was inspired by THIS CARD by Dream Team Member, Isha Gupta.

Fab techniques and card! I have Brushos and love them xxx

Call me crazy or whatever, but I loved the background with just the starbursts on it (BEFORE you spritzed it with water and then heat dried it). It looked great though with the stencilled tree bark on it! :)

Was not familiar with the products you used. Thanks for the introduction.

    Catherine,
What stencil did you use for the first card, the one that has “A Big Thank You” as the sentiment? I have already ordered a set of the Bisters powders! So excited to try those out! Watercolor techniques are my favorite so anything that gives me that look definitely has to be tried out. Will try the Color Burst next. I like the control I think the powder will give me. Thanks for the awesome videos and comparisons! Did you use watercolor paper for all of the cards?

I’m so sorry I missed linking that stencil! It is The crafters Workshop Mini Rosetta.

love them! I am still at the ‘making a huge mess’ phase myself. I wish I could get them to stay as they are at the 2 mins 32 on the woodgrain tutorial (think what Janelle called starburst?) just love them like that!! thanks Catherine for another great video :)
