Watercoloring with dye ink pads Flower embellishment

For the past two months we’ve been working on our next class, “Technique Toolbox: creative uses for dye ink pads” and my mind can’t quite get off of all the wonderful and creative ways to use this important tool on your card making projects!

If you are a frequenter (is that a word!??) ’round these parts, you know this already!  I’ve been doing lots of videos with dye ink pad techniques – mostly watercoloring techniques.

Our class kicks off tomorrow for StampNation Members (with a $10 discount code!)…if you are not a member, registration will be open on Wednesday.

Until then, please watch this video:

The Hennah Elements Stamp set by Altenew is a great set to play with and the images stamp super crisp and clear when you use a Versafine Ink pad.

Once you use your Dye Ink Pads to watercolor the flowers, making Enameled Flower embellishments is easy with Stampin’ Up’s Crystal Effects or Ranger’s Glossy Accents.

Simply coat the flowers with one of the mediums and let it dry.  It should take around 30 minutes to completely dry.  They are beautiful when they are done!

Once I was done with the first card, I made two more with the remaining flowers.  This video (along with 500 other videos!) will be up on StampNation today!

Catherine, I have to say I am so glad that you show your little outtakes at the end. I don’t know how many times I’ve dropped the block onto my work surface, and like a cat always landing on its feet, it always lands ink down. Love the card you showed… beautiful!

I think this is one of my favorite cards ever! The flowers remind me of the 70s. I had dresses and tops with those colorful flowers all over them. And the glaze just makes it perfect! This is one I’m definitely making!

Hi Catherine, loved the watercolor flower card. Can you tell me how you folded the card? Thanks!

  • Catherine February 24, 2015, 11:55 am

    Absolutely, Liz!
I folded my card in half, then I cut off about an inch from the front. Easy and a fun twist! :)

Hi. Love this card. So easy to make. What I love about your videos is that you are not afraid to show when you make a mistake. It makes you so much more human. Will try your card out.
    Love Sonja x
