Valentine’s Day Shaker Card and a give-a-way!

Valentineshakercard3 Who doesn’t love a Shaker Card?  They are fun, interactive and just adorable.

When you need a special card for Valentine’s Day, why not make a Shaker Card?  Truly, this card can be used any time you want to tell someone “I love you”!

View the video tutorial and I’ll show you how to make this Valentine’s Day Shaker Card:

I almost never make a card then film the video showing you how….you get to see the process “LIVE”.  Occasionally, the card comes out a bit less than perfect.

In this Valentine’s Day Shaker Card, can you guess what I would change?  Two things….

  1. I went a bit overboard with the shaker bits, maybe..perhaps…so I wouldn’t put in quite as many.  I couldn’t resist, though.
  2. I probably should have made the dimensional border around the frame TWO high.  Get what I mean??  If I had put another layer on top of the first round of dimensional adhesive, there would have been more room between the acetate and the card layer and the shaker bits would have moved around more freely.

Am I going to re-make this card?  Heavens no!  My hubby will love it, imperfections and all because I made it just for him.

This is such a FUN shaker card! LOVE it!!!

  • Sharon Kaldenberger February 2, 2015, 3:24 pm

yes, I make valentines cards each year. One set for the Red Hats group and this year
For my great grandkids school exchange. Also one must make something great for
The husband of almost 58years…that one will take some thought for sure.
Thanks, Catherine for your great site.

  • c February 2, 2015, 3:36 pm

Catherine, your shaker card is absolutely marvelous, and in my opinion, you have the *perfect* amount of shaky-goodness inside! I’ve been steering away from shaker’s because they seem ‘beyond’ me, but your engaging video has provided incentive to give them a try. Your creativity + CAS-ual Friday products = awesome inspiration! I’m making plenty of Valentine’s, most of which are for my niece (5) and nephew’s (2 1/2) daycare pals and teachers. Between now and Feb. 14, It will be Valentine’s galore in my crafting zone. I’m also planning – for down the road – to make some “heart” cards to donate at the hospital where my dad passed away on Dec. 30th. Perhaps they’ll bring some smiles to the faces of the patients and their families…just little spirit-lifters.
Thanks for the fabulous give-away, and especially, the smiles…

  • SueC. February 2, 2015, 3:37 pm

Love your shaker card! Yes, I am making Valentine’s Day cards this year. I made 2 for a StampNation Swap, a friend asked me to make 6 for her grandchildren, and I will be making 2 for my daughters and 1 for my hubby.

  • Elizabeth G February 2, 2015, 3:48 pm

As your phrase Heavens no! if I will make a valentine day card but if I do it will be for my one and only boyfriend of what will be 7 years together on valentine day, but on the down side only have 3 days to get my a into g and get one made, which I told him and he turned round and said you don’t have too (is that a good thing or bad?). so to win this set would be an amazing gift. always love your work Catherine, now to watch the video :)

  • Anita Holmes February 2, 2015, 3:53 pm

  • Margaret wolf February 2, 2015, 5:37 pm

Oh Catherine, I just love your work! You make the best cards. He re is a thought for shaker cards. I recently just started doing this. I got the idea from Jennifer McGuire. She uses fun foam on her cards so the are solid and flat, not just raised where the dimensionals are. I mail a lot of my cards and the fun foam makes them more sturdy and less crushable. So, why not use the size fun foam that matches your card stock but due cut or fussy cut ate area wher it will ve open for the shaker part. Am I making sense?

  • Pamela Stadler February 2, 2015, 5:38 pm

Catherine…I loved that shaker card!! Have never made one before, but with your super instructions I just might try. I am making Valentine cards….step cards using my Silhouette machine and stamps too!

LOVE your shaker card and that everything doesn’t just fall to the bottom! I am in the process of making about 25 valentines to send to friends and family, mostly adults. It’s a great day to remind someone how sweet they are, how much you love them or how lucky you feel to call them a friend. I make a few of each card design, changing up colors/patterned paper. I sure could use a new stamp set like this one to get a few more variations! Thanks for sharing!
