DAZZLING DIVA CHALLENGE #3

At first, I thought about Heat Embossing or using an Embossing Folder with my Big Shot…but when I went to my stamp table what I needed to work on was a gift for Alana’s teacher!  It’s that time again, y’all!  My kids track out of school tomorrow and will be home allll month with me!  yip!

Soooo, the teacher presents need to go to school tomorrow!

Alana’s teacher loves dark chocolate with a hint of sea salt, so that’s what’s underneath all this gorgeousness.  And that’s where the embossing comes in.  That snowflake was made with Embossing Paste and Stencils!

Here’s how you do it:

Snowflake Candy bars

I cut a sheet of Ocean Blue Metal Sheets from the Add a Little Dazzle store (2-3/4 x 9-1/2) and laid my stencil on top of it.

I used my Wilton frosting knife (because I don’t have the fancy schmancy palette knife yet!) to spread the Embossing Paste into the stencils.

Then, I lifted the stencil off and revealed the gorgeous snowflake.

What happened next tripped me up for a while.  I added more snowflakes to my Ocean Blue Metal Sheet.  It didn’t look so hot, so I started again.  I should have left well enough alone…

See, I tried this four more times and couldn’t ever get as good and crisp snowflake as I did the first time.  I’m not sure why….but if I figure it out I will surely let you know!

In any case, a sprinking of Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, a scalloped border, a hanging tag and pretty ribbon and I think Alana’s teacher might like the packaging almost as much as she likes what’s inside!

Love your idea! Gonna have to give it a try for Valentine’s Day. As far as your snowflake, you need to take down the stencil with Removable Tape to create a hinge at the top and when you spread the embossing paste you only go in one direction. If you go back and forth, you end up with a smeared looking snowflake. Hope this helps! Thanks for a fabulous tutorial! Love it!

I love this, Catherine! I know Alana’s teacher is going to love it too! So pretty! That blue metal is amazing.

Your package is beautiful! I love the contrast of the white snowflake with the metal. Love the idea of stenciling onto a package.

Chances are you need a clean and DRY stencil to get that crisp outline. This is beautiful…and I see some raised snowflakes in my future with my stencil :-) Thanks for the inspiration!
