Moxie Fab World Ombre Tuesday Trigger

I was inspired the second I saw the:

Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger: Honoring Ombre

Putting idea to paper doesn’t always come together quickly, though…

I knew I wanted a geometric, ombre pink and purple background, so I began by pulling out my Circles Cover Plate by Papertrey Ink.  I cut a piece of scrap paper, added a bit of 2 Way Glue to the back and waited for it to dry so it was a temporary adhesive and I could use it as a mask.

I sponged Pink Pirouette and Wisteria Wonder onto my white cardstock with a sponge.

and look what happened…a mess!!!  Oi!

I don’t know HOW many times I sponged this background.  I lost track.

I almost gave up.

I just couldn’t get the LOOK I was going for and I was getting a bit peeved.  Peeved and crafting don’t mix.

So I left it for a couple days and came back.

This time I started with Strawberry Slush Ink (a darker pink) and concentrated in the lower corner first and just let the sponge run out of ink as I moved towards the middle.

Then I turned my cardstock and got to work from the other end.  I started with what I thought was going to be a WAY too dark color…Elegant Eggplant.

I did the same thing, concentrating on the corner and getting lighter as I moved towards the middle.

aaahhhhh….I think I hit it this time!

A few banners and a small greeting finished off the card without detracting from the background that I slaved over for days.

Love this technique. I’m going to try it over the lightly stamped image from my new Mondo Magnolia stamp. Perhaps I can do half of the flower in two separate corners and blend into the middle. Soooo excited to try this. Thanks so much Catherine for the troubleshooting you do on our behalf. Lol Lol BTW, the colour combinations you do are just super! :-)
