masculine card making Stampin' Up 2013

Masculine Cards…cards for guys…I hear all the time that you ladies want MORE of this type of card.  I do have to chuckle, though, because recently there was a discussion on StampNation about making cards for guys and how it’s really hard to NOT add pearls, rhinestones, lace, flowers, ribbons…you know, GIRL things!

I chimed in and mentioned that Stampin’ Up has this new kit called, Dude, You’re Welcome, which I think is hilarious.  It’s a little card kit for guys to make cards…for who?   Girls, I suppose. (view the kit here)

But…all the supplies in this kit are total GUY.  KWIM?  Colors and papers that dudes would like.

So if Stampin’ Up makes a kit for GUYS with GUY stuff, why isn’t it ok for GIRLS to put GIRL stuff on cards for GUYS?

I’m going to ponder this for a while, and I want you to ponder it as well.  Then, let me know what you think and go onto my facebook page and let me know what you think about it!  Can we put girlie touches on cards for guys because the card is FROM a GIRL???

Plunk.  That’s me getting off my soapbox.  I’m ready to tell you about today’s card.  I saw a card just like this on my friend, Jenny Peterson’s Facebook Page and Georgia Giguere chimed in and said it was her card from the swap boards at Leadership.  (I didn’t see it, guess I was having too much fun doing other stuff…if you missed it, you can read about it and see my video here).

Thank you Georgia for making such an incredible card that I could CASE!  I love how this turned out.  I hope you do, too!

And no girlie touches.  Oh, wait.  I see a couple swirls and scallops and banners…does that count as girlie?

I do love this card, Catherine. I don’t believe we should add any sort of girlie stuff to guy cards. Because they are, well, guy cards! Yeah it’s painful, but that’s what guys want, right? So let the guys be guys, and we’ll be as girlie as we want to be!

I love the card. I don’t think a few “girlie” touches are bad for a guy card. I made my husband’s valentine card with a doily and a scalloped heart from “More Amore” paper!! Anything home made from the heart will be appreciated. And don’t most cards reflect the giver just a little anyway?

Think the card is great, nothing wrong with it at all. Personally, I have so many sons and grandsons, not to mention nephews and such like that male cards drive me nuts.
One thing I really, really wish Stampin Up or one of the stamp makers would consider is to make humorous stamps that could be used for men. All the men in my family love funny cards. Trying to make funny ones is a nightmare as there are so few items available.
Maybe all the demonstrators could suggest this to Stampin Up and see if they would take it on board????
Thanks again for a great card Catherine.

    Love the card, CP.

Snap, Veronica, my hubby likes humorous cards too, and i often wish there are more humorous stamps.
