The Sale-a-bration My Favorites Series has been one of my favorites so far! This series had lots of fun cards including:
- 6 Video Tutorials
- a One Layer Card
- 2 Cards by Eva
- 2 Bonus Tutorials for StampNation Members
Which is your favorite!?
I wanted to wrap this series up with a bang, so I decided to do a Swing Card. I first tried one of these several years ago and honestly, I thought it was a bit too complicated and wasn’t impressed.
StampNation Members! I have another way (I think it’s an easier way!) to get this same effect. Video coming… Details on membership: http://www.catherinepooler.com/stamp-nation-2/
I decided to give it another try and made several of them to get the hang of it with the measurements and folds and such and I’ll say, once you practice a bit they are quite easy to make! Be sure to have the measurements nearby and take your time. If you mess up a few times, don’t give up!
View the video to see how to make a Swing Card!
Measurements:
- Cut your cardstock base to 5-1/2 x 6-3/4
- at 2-3/4" score to 1-1/4"
- pick up your score blade and move it to 4-1/4 and score to the bottom of the card
- now move your cardstock over the 4" and repeat the scoring you just did
- turn your cardstock, lining it up at 4-1/4
- cut at 1-1/4 to score line
- then cut score line to 5-1/4
- turn card and repeat on the other side
- turn one more time. line up at 1-1/4 and cut from cut to cut on both sides
Does this make sense? The directions sound involved, and are tricky to write out, so let me know if I made any errors!

Awesome!! I cannot wait to try this. I cannot pick a favorite – #3 tweaked version, #6, and this one if I have to pick and I still cannot limit it to just one. I also loved both of Eva’s cards, so that is five favorites.
LOL
I also love how you matched your nails today to the first swing card.
Thanks for all the inspiration!!
Lovely! I have never tried this type of card but will have to now and you know me, I am thinking of Christmas.
I have LOVED this series and think it is my favorite so far of all of your series.
Would be too hard to choose just one favorite card. Love them all!
I can be a gross fence sitter and say that I loved all the cards that contained a butterfly on them….hee hee hee. I have yet to try a swing card, but I love the concept. Thanks so much for all the VDO’s. Hope ur staying warm and having a ball.
Oh the wonderful things I learn here! Catherine, I love this, and can’t wait to give it a try this afternoon!!
I will be checking SN frequently for the video on the variations, super, super cute!
Kimberly
love the swing card!! I will give it a try for my husbands birthday (on thurs). Thanks for the inspiration!! Awesome!
I love the whole series!! I cant pick a favourite!
This card is super cute! I agree with the comment about guys liking this card ’cause they want to figure out how it’s done! I’m married to an engineer!
I think your measurement in the written instructions step 7 should read “then cut score line to 5 1/2″, not 5 1/4. This would make 1 1/2″ cut lines above and below the score lines, and leave 1 1/4″ spaces from the edges in to the cut lines.
Thanks for the inspiration!
I want to make this card, I have just one question. What is the size of the center piece? Thanks, Your card is BEAUTIFUL!!
I’m so glad you are going to try a swing card. The center piece is 3 x 4-1/4.
HTH!
